Two opposite jobs, both about changing how your hair behaves rather than what colour it is. Which one you want depends on whether you're fighting your hair for curl or fighting it for calm.
Perms
A perm adds curl or wave that stays until the hair grows out. It's useful if your hair is straight and won't hold a style, or if you want more body without reaching for hot tools every morning.
Perms have improved a great deal since their reputation was made. Modern solutions are gentler, and the result depends heavily on rod size and placement — which is where an experienced hand shows.
Is my hair suitable?
Mostly it depends on condition. Hair that's been lightened repeatedly or is already fragile may not be a good candidate, and Gina will say so rather than proceed and hope. Call and describe your hair's history.
Perms for boys and kids
Boys' perms have become one of the most requested services at the salon — a loose wave through the top rather than tight curl, cut and permed in the same appointment. Girls get them too, usually for body and movement. See the full page on kids' and boys' perms.

Deep conditioning and hair treatments
For hair that's dry, over-processed, or simply been through a lot. Sometimes this is the right first step before any other service, and Gina will tell you if that's the case.
A perm lasts longer and looks better with the right products and washing routine. You'll be told what to do and what to avoid — following it makes a real difference to how long the curl holds.
Before you book
- Say what's been done to your hair recently, especially any lightening or box color.
- These are longer appointments. Don't book them against a tight schedule.
- If you're not sure which service you want, call and describe the problem rather than the solution — that's usually a faster route to the right answer.
