Color is the work Gina is known for. She's a color specialist working in Redken, Matrix, Joico and Olaplex, and she'll tell you honestly what your hair can do before anything is mixed.
What we do
All-over color
A single shade through the whole head — to go darker, warmer, cooler, or simply back to an even tone. Good if your color has drifted or you want a clean change.
Balayage
Hand-painted highlights that grow out softly, with no hard regrowth line and far less upkeep than foils. It's one of the most requested services at Hair Barn — read more about balayage in Tyler.
Highlights
Lighter pieces worked through the hair for depth and movement. How fine or how bold is up to you, and it's worth talking through what you actually want before we start.
Grey coverage
Grey takes color differently to the rest of your hair — it's more resistant and can grab warmth. Forty years of doing this is mostly forty years of knowing how to handle that. Full coverage or a softer blend, whichever you prefer.
Color correction
Box color gone wrong, brassy tones, banding from repeated root touch-ups, or a result from somewhere else that didn't turn out. Correction takes longer than regular color and sometimes more than one visit — call and describe what happened, and Gina will tell you what's realistic.
Color depends on hair length, thickness and how much work is involved, so there's no single price. You'll be told the cost before anything starts — no surprises at the end.
The lines we use
Redken, Matrix, Joico and Olaplex. Olaplex in particular matters if you're lifting your hair lighter, because it helps protect the hair's structure while the color works.
Before you come in
- Bring a photo if you have one in mind. It's the fastest way to be sure you and Gina mean the same thing.
- Say if you've used box color, henna, or had anything done recently — it genuinely changes what's possible.
- Allow time. Color isn't a quick appointment, and rushing it is how results go wrong.
